King's Cairn

King’s Cairn, a new-build home, sits on an acre of land located directly adjacent to Archerfield Links golf course. The building presents as a seven-bay, two storey Georgian style house. The architectural style and material choice draws directly from the nearby Archerfield House and the Archerfield Links clubhouse to establish a strong sense of place for the new construction. The key material elements of these existing properties are the buff coloured random rubble walling on the clubhouse and sandstone with a smoothed ashlar finish and natural slate roofs to both properties.

To the rear of the property, an angled, single-story wing adds privacy to an external courtyard. Natural light is allowed into a large, double-story window serving a central living and circulation space.

Renewable technologies will be implemented in the form of PV panels and Air Source Heat. The Coach House, a stand alone building to the rear of the property, is to house a battery for the storage of solar energy generated additional to the current demand of the property. Along side the battery, the heat pump will connect to the Main House providing power and underfloor heating throughout both buildings.
