Forming part of the A Listed Donaldson’s Warehouse, one of the oldest and most architecturally distinctive warehouses in Edinburgh, the client’s property is housed within a former ironmongers and ship chandlers store.

The project saw the full reinstatement of previously concealed shopfront windows to the principal elevation and the reconfiguration of the property internally, with the removal of modern partition walls and a significant section of a modern lowered ceiling. These alterations provided much more pleasing proportions to the property and opened up a vast amount of previously inaccessible space to the rear of the home. Revealing the full extent of the shopfront windows allowed the client’s to maximise natural light on a particularly tight street as well as enjoy the building’s original features.
